Paris Pub..;)

*that was from my luggage banging against my hip as i dragged it up the stairs the first day i was in Paris. it has since darkened into a blood-clot-like thing. it's great *** just thought i'd share

Last night was a night of FUN.
It marked the first day that i bought a drink myself and i bought it legally.
6 euros for a long island ice tea. yeah. i know.
We met some French guys. They wore blazers and jeans and smoked and spoke broken English. But I see the appeal of the French. They are confident, composed, and hold themselves with grace and swagger.
The bar/pub was at the Latin Quarters, where college students congregate for a night out on the town. However, since it was Monday night, only us Americans and some older French men were out and about.
The bar was rather quiet and chill. I think I would prefer a loud and crazy crowd but it was fun nonetheless. We headed bk at around 1:30am since we had to get up at 8 for class the next morning. We caught cabs back home because we really didn't have any plans for going back to the dorm since the Metro stops running at 12:30am. haha! What a night! The cab driver didn't speak English but spoke Spanish and with our broken Spanish, we managed to get ourselves home :)

Larissa (my roommate) and I were rudely awakened by a French guy (our neighbor) at 5am in the morning. He said he was looking for "Julianne" and kept on apologizing in broken English and wouldn't leave. When he finally left I went back to sleep. FINALLY.

Classes have been okay. Dr. Hoyer (our International Marketing and Consumer Behavior Part I professor) is a lot of fun with lots of interesting traveling stories (he has traveled excessively) and funny SNL marketing commercials to entertain us. Professor Reckford (our cross-cultural management professor) is a bit on the monotone and boring side. Sadly, I think this is due to his assimilation into the French culture and marrying a French wife 15 years ago. haha. The French are really solemn and rarely smile. My smile is very much out of place around here but seems to brighten the faces of older gentlemen with canes as I shout "Bonjour!" to them.

The School has planned for us a tour of Paris at night. We're going to be taking a bus around Paris with an English-speaking guide. I heard it was boring but I'm all for tourist-like attractions! Another day of class awaits us and I already have completed one assignment (i know i'm a hauss)! with another 40 pages to read tonight. ARGH.

P.S. there is a bum who sleeps outside our residence and he's there everyday. I see him from my window and this makes me happy in an odd way. hahaha. I have also seen him pee against a tree. something that doesn't make me happy.

P.P.S. The guy on the 9th floor from across the street just waved at me as I am sitting here typing on my computer. HAHAHA. CREEPY.

I have to say thus far I love this strange city of lights, with ups and downs, I think this trip is going to be an interesting one.

Au Revoir!
Joy
